Mellon Park: Located just 1.2 miles from the Pierce Townhomes, Mellon Park offers a variety of activities
including indoor tennis, playgrounds and plenty of open green space. Adjacent to the park is the noted
Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
Frick Park: Just down the road from Mellon Park (2.2 miles from the Pierce Townhomes) is Frick Park, the
largest of the City's four parks, covering 600 acres. Park users love the extensive trails throughout the park's
steep valleys and wooded slopes that are ideal for hikes and mountain biking. Park amenities include: Frick Art &
Historical Center, Education programming by the Frick Environmental Center, Blue Slide Playground, Playground
at Forbes and Braddock, Frick Gatehouse, red clay tennis courts and a bowling green.
Schenley Park: Pittsburghers looking for serious exercise will find it all just 1.4 miles from the Pierce
Townhomes at Schenley Park. The Schenley Park Oval sports 13 tennis courts, running tracks and a soccer
field, with an adjacent skating rink for roller hockey in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The park's golf
course includes an indoor practice facility where golfers can play a "virtual" round on Pebble Beach and other
famous courses. An 18-hole disc golf course winds its way through the park's wooded areas. Other highlights
include: Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Carnegie Museums and Library, Panther Hollow Lake,
